Mason City Youth Hockey

Mason City Youth Hockey provides a fun, safe, and development-focused environment for players of all ages and skill levels. Following the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), our program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of the game while helping every player reach their full potential.

Ages

Learn to Skate: Ages 4+

Learn to Play: Ages 4–8 (new players)

8U (Mites): Ages 8 and under

10U (Squirts): Ages 9–10

12U (Peewees): Ages 11–12

14U (Bantams): Ages 13–14

When

The 2026–2027 season runs from Monday, September 28, 2026, through Saturday, March 13, 2027.

Games

Players participate in league games, tournaments, and exhibition games throughout the season. The number of games varies by age level and follows USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM) recommendations.

Practice Times

Travel teams practice throughout the week, with the number of weekly practices varying by age level. Practices emphasize skating, puck skills, hockey IQ, and team play while following the development principles outlined by USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM).

Our primary practice ice is generally available during the following times:

  • Monday: 4:00 PM – 6:15 PM and 8:15 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 4:00 PM – 9:30 PM
  • Thursday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM


Final practice schedules are determined each season based on team placement, age level, and ice availability.

Jerseys & Socks

Travel players are required to wear the official MCYH travel uniform. Jerseys and socks are purchased separately during registration, while returning players may continue using their current uniform if it fits and remains in good condition.

2026-2027

The 2026–2027 MCYH season includes weekly practices, league games, and opportunities to compete throughout northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, depending on age level. Our program follows the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), emphasizing age-appropriate skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of the game. Whether your player is stepping onto the ice for the first time or preparing for higher levels of hockey, MCYH provides a fun, safe, and competitive environment for every athlete.
