Volunteer Requirements
It Takes Every Family
Mason City Youth Hockey is powered by volunteers. Every family plays an important role in creating a positive experience for our players, keeping costs affordable, and helping our association thrive. Whether you serve on a committee, coach, manage a team, or volunteer at events, your time and talents make a lasting impact.
Annual Volunteer Requirement
Each MCYHA family is expected to complete one annual volunteer commitment by choosing one of the following options:
- Serve on an MCYHA Committee
- Become a Level Representative
- Serve as a Team Manager
- Coach an MCYHA Team
- Serve on the Board of Directors
- Complete Volunteer Hours (5 hours per player, up to 10 hours per family)
Families who are unable to volunteer may choose the Volunteer Buy-Out Option for $500 per family.
Team Responsibilities Still Apply
The Family Volunteer Program is separate from your team's regular responsibilities. Game-day duties, tournament assignments, locker room monitoring, and other team-specific volunteer expectations remain required for all families.
Why We Volunteer
Every hour volunteered helps strengthen our hockey community by:
- Supporting player development
- Reducing operating costs
- Assisting with tournaments and fundraising
- Improving programs and facilities
- Building a stronger experience for every MCYHA family
Get Involved
Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the season, and there's a role for everyone. We encourage every family to find a way to contribute their unique skills and help make Mason City Youth Hockey a great place for our players to learn, grow, and compete.
Together, we're building more than hockey players—we're building a stronger hockey community.
