Player Code of Conduct

Building Great Hockey Players—and Great People

At Mason City Youth Hockey, we believe success is measured by more than wins and losses. We expect every player to demonstrate respect, integrity, teamwork, and sportsmanship both on and off the ice. Our Player Code of Conduct helps create a safe, positive, and competitive environment where every athlete can learn, grow, and enjoy the game.

What We Expect from Our Players

All MCYHA players are expected to:

  • Show Respect for teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, volunteers, arena staff, and spectators.
  • Demonstrate Sportsmanship by competing with integrity, accepting officials' decisions, and representing MCYHA with pride.
  • Be a Great Teammate by giving their best effort, maintaining a positive attitude, and supporting one another.
  • Practice Good Sportsmanship Online by using good judgment on social media and following USA Hockey SafeSport guidelines.
  • Follow Team Rules by attending practices, games, and team activities while respecting coaches and association policies.
  • Protect Player Safety by playing responsibly, avoiding dangerous behavior, and following USA Hockey safety requirements.

Safe, Respectful, and Inclusive

MCYHA is committed to providing an environment where every player feels safe and respected. Bullying, hazing, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and unsportsmanlike behavior have no place in our association. All players are expected to follow MCYHA policies, USA Hockey rules, MWAHA regulations, and SafeSport requirements.

Accountability

Players are responsible for their actions both on and off the ice. Violations of the Player Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including loss of ice time, suspension, or additional consequences determined by MCYHA.

Together, we strive to develop respectful teammates, responsible leaders, and lifelong ambassadors for the game of hockey.
